The originality and variety of French esthetics in terms of new circus, street and marionette theater has been meeting with growing success for several years now. Thanks to an active policy of promotion and support, Culturesfrance has become an important partner in the economic and artistic life of these companies with regard to their international distribution.Promoting circus, street and marionette theaterIn successive steps, artists and companies have been accompanied towards "sustainable development":- marionette theater were associated with the technical commission Circus and Street; - a specific sum of money was paid to the Bureau du théâtre et de la danse in Berlin; - in 2004, for the first time, support from Fonds Étant donnés was attributed to a Circus group (Cie 111), and then in 2005 to the Compagnie du Hanneton; - for the first time, in 2004 a “Villa Médicis Hors les Murs” grant was awarded to a marionette player (Renaud Herbin / Là où Théâtre), then to a circus artist (Jean-Baptiste André / W) in 2005. CircasiaThe "Circasia" program took place from 2004 till 2006 in order to promote and distribute the new French circus.
