Development and partnership

The department of Development and Partnership  has drawn in numerous partners, on an institutional and/or an artistic level, public and/or private, French and/or foreign, individual and/or collective, for the purpose of organising cultural events in France, in Europe and throughout the world. Its role is to get the necessary wheels in motion to establish actions based on political and artistic interests, in harmony with the expertise of the department of Artistic Cooperations and Exchanges, the Books department and the Cinema department.

The department of Development and Partnership consolidates these partnerships on different levels:

- agreements signed with local and regional authorities and the Regional Directorates for Cultural Affairs (DRAC), which provide towns, cities and regions, alongside the artists supported under such agreements, with greater visibility outside France.  More generally speaking, the contacts made with numerous authorities provide an opportunity for ambitious, innovative line-ups in the international arena;

- the annual cultural seasons - coordinated by the department of Development and Partnership - provide an opportunity for partner countries to showcase the wealth and diversity of their cultural life to a French audience. French seasons abroad provide a similar opportunity. Indeed, above and beyond the cultural dimension, these seasons are an ideal occasion to highlight other interests, in fields such as diplomacy, economics and tourism. French operators from both the public and the private sectors are keen to support and play their part in the organisation of these Seasons, which are a key feature in the nation's cultural calendar.

- finally, the "Residences" programme, with the committed support of numerous French and foreign partners, ranging from private venues made available or structures put into place by towns and cities, for example, provides assistance to artists and writers in their confrontation with different forms of creation and production.

On the strength of these multiple skills and its ability to combine willpower and energy, the department of Development and Strategy also launches ad hoc operations to celebrate a variety of events (commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall, for example) or illustrate major contemporary themes such as cultural diversity, the Euro-Mediterranean space or the question of borders.
