2014 International Shortest Day Event

On December 9-21, 2014, for the the Shortest Day – Short Film Festival, the Institut français is offering 13 turnkey programs from its catalog of over 1,500 short films.

For its fourth consecutive year, the Institut français is celebrating short films around the world with « Le Jour le plus court » event from December 9-21, 2014. Initiated by the CNC (National Center of Cinema and Animated Images) and organized in 2014 by the Agence du court métrage,, this encounter will be promoting, beyond its national territory, a cinematographic genre that is both creative and punchy.

For the occasion, the Institut français and its cinema department are offering 13 “turnkey” film programs with nearly 200 films à la carte, available, depending on the titles, diverse subtitled versions and different projection media (35 mm, DVD, Blu-ray) and downloading on the Institut français’ online cinema platform.

This gives programmers abroad an opportunity to stress artistic and cultural diversity and an exchange of views on French films and local cinematography, as well as discussions and encounters at dedicated or alternate venues (rooms, public areas, cafés, etc.).

On the programs proposed by the Institut français, are:
  • Première of My French Film Festival 2015
  • La FEMIS - 10 films from 2013
  • Les Courts des grands (Short films in the Big League): first films from Jean-Luc Godard and Jean Rouch to Cédric Klapish and Laurent Cantet
  • Folimage via 16 short films
  • Ateliers Varan
  • Théma

Screenings have been scheduled all over the world, from Beijing to Beirut, Athens to Chittagong, Bakou to Lubumbashi, and Budapest to Novosibirsk.
