2015 Documentary Film Month

Documentary Film Month, a must-see event to shed light on documentary creation, runs till November 30, 2015, offering among others recent documentaries, short animated films and films from cinema schools.
The Institut français is the international partner of Documentary Film Month organized by ‘‘Images en Bibliothèques’’. For one month, the Cultural Network and its partners will join forces to organize more than 3,300 screenings in France as well as in about 40 countries around the world.
For its 16th edition, the Institut français is offering a collection of 12 recent documentaries organized by theme, genre or production. A selection of films released in theaters, scheduled by European and international festivals, including some prize winners, and films supported by the Institut français (Louis Lumière Residencies and the Institut français Prize awarded at the Cinéma du Réel and FID in Marseille).
The Institut français is also giving young spectators an opportunity to discover documentaries in a new way via a program of short animated films, in partnership with ‘‘Images en Bibliothèques’ and the AFCA.
Finally, the Institut français has enriched its programming dedicated to Film Schools and is launching a new series of 11 films directed within the framework of Ateliers Varan.
This event, open to the most original programming, and at the crossroads of French and local filmography, offers a unique opportunity to view documentary cinema in its multitude of forms, fostering cultural and artistic diversity, making accessible to very different viewers the unique contribution of documentaries for our understanding of the world.
In a host of countries, French cinema series have shed light on the works of local authors, such as the VISOR program, which is bringing to Mexico for the second time a selection of 12 documentary feature films presented in six Mexican cities, at 12 venues and partner movie theaters, with 89 public screenings for the month of November, followed by a VOD Festival.
