2016 Animated Film Festival

From October 1 to 31, the Institut français will be celebrating the 15th edition of the Animated Film Festival in over 40 countries, thus renewing its partnership with the AFA (French Animated Film Association) for its sixth consecutive year.
This year, the Institut français will be strengthening its assistance in French animated films abroad by offering program managers five new short and feature film selections for children and adults, including a best of for the ‘‘Annecy Festival’’ as well as an ‘‘Ecole des Gobelins’’ program.
Screenings, activities and discussions will be proposed by the French Cultural Network Abroad (Cultural Services of Embassies, Instituts français and Alliances françaises) and its partners (festivals, cultural centers, universities, etc.) from October 1-31, 2016.
To cite an example, the Institut français of Erbil (Iraq) will become part of the ‘‘Screens of Peace’’ project, and offer screenings in refugee camps, moved to Iraqi Kurdistan, from Qushtapa, Bardarash and Ankawa.
In Africa, the Institut français of Dakar will be organizing an evening of encounters with Senegalese authors. While in Burkina Faso, the Institut français of Ouagadougou will be offering a youth program with the screening of a best of from the Annecy Festival within the scope of the Les Toiles Animées (Animated Screens) Festival. This best of is also being proposed by the Institut français of Beijing.
The Institut français of Cambodia will present shadow theater techniques to its public with a cinema workshop organized in partnership with the Fotokino association
The Animated Film Festival will also be celebrated in Morocco, where digitalized rooms of the Instituts français of Casablanca, Fez, Essaouira and Meknes will be set up.
In total, 75 films of the Institut français will be presented in over 40 countries, thus adding an international dimension to the Animated Film Festival.
