2016 Realness Residency : 5 South African Filmmakers

Discover the projects of the five filmmakers selected for a Realness cinematographic writing residency in South Africa.
Up until August 7, 2016, five filmmakers from Kenya, Ethiopia, Madagascar and South Africa will be benefiting from a Realness cinematographic writing residency in South Africa, in Nirox, not far from Johannesburg. The aim of this writing residency is to give those selected an opportunity to develop a new version of their feature film script.
Set up on the initiative of the South African production company, Urucu Media, with the support of many partners including the Institut français, Realness targets offering a location, as well as the time and help needed for talented authors/filmmakers from the African continent, to enable them to develop an original cinematographic approach. The most promising filmmaker and producer for the project will be invited to take part in the 2017 edition of La Fabrique des Cinémas du Monde (World Cinema Fabrique) so as to pitch their project to the co-producers, financiers and heads of festivals present at the Cannes Film Festival.
