2016 Seminar on language policies in France and China, in Beijing

The third edition of the ‘‘International Comparative Seminar on French and Chinese Language Programs’’, co-organized by the Institut français and French Embassy in China, will be held in Beijing on October 31-November 2, 2016.
Based on the theme of ‘‘Language Development and Cultural Diversity’’, the Seminar, to open its doors on October 31, 2016, aims to foster exchanges between policymakers and researchers in the realm of language policies in China, in France, as well as in the French-speaking world.
 
Co-organized by the Chinese Ministry of Education, The Work Committee on National Languages and Writing, the Chinese SAFEA, Chinese Embassy in France, the University of Languages and Cultures in Beijing, the French Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, French Ministry of Culture and Communication, French Ministry of Education, Institut français and French Embassy in China, the Seminar will be held at the Capital Museum in Beijing. Four main topics will be covered at roundtable discussions, as follows:
 
• Language policies
• Language protection and cultural diversity
• The Economy of the language sector
• Teaching French in China and Teaching Chinese in French-speaking countries
