Actrices, a tribute to Kate Barry in Italy

The Actrices exhibit paid a tribute to photographer Kate Barry within the scope of the France Odeon French Film Festival in Florence.

After being launched at the Rome International Film Festival, the Institut français presented the ‘‘Actrices’’ exhibit at the France Odéon French Film Festival in Florence, with a tribute paid to photographer Kate Barry, from October 30 to November 11, 2014.

This tribute is being paid to Kate Barry, daughter of actress and singer Jane Birkin and composer John Barry. This talented photographer prematurely left us in December 2013. Twenty-five portraits of great beauty will be exhibited, capturing each actress in portraits of what can be perceived as infinite, undefinable. This exhibit pays a mirrored tribute to both Kate Barry and the movie stars she portrays, ranging from the most renowned to a young generation of artists.

This exhibit has been produced by the Institut français under the commissionership of photographer and journalist Aline Arlettaz in partnership with Roman de Kermadec, Kate Barry’s son, and presented in Italy with the support of AXA ART and AXA Italia together with the Institut français of Italy.

The Institut français would particularly like to thank Jane Birkin as well as the Gallois Montbrun & Fabiani agency for their strong involvement in this project.
