‘‘An Arts Republic’’, FRAC collections in the Netherlands

Following “Les Pléiades – FRAC, 30 years’’ in 2013, the Regional Contemporary Art Funds (FRAC) are presenting, in the Netherlands, a new exhibit portraying a history of contemporary art and the cultural policies of the last 30 years.

Up until October 4, 2015, the ‘‘A Republic of Art’’ exhibit at the Van Abbemuseum of Eindhoven will give an overview of an extraordinary depth of the FRAC collections.

This exhibit, uniting an outstanding collection of works, gives a history of contemporary art and the cultural policies of the last 30 years. It has been designed in collaboration with 23 FRAC’s, with their PLATFORM network and the Van Abbemuseum, with Annie Fletcher and Diana Franssen as Curators.

Since their creation in 1982, the FRAC’s have aimed at bringing together nearly 26,000 works by as many French as foreign artists all over the territory. In 2013, they presented ‘‘Les Pléiades’’, a joint exhibit celebrating 30 years of the FRAC’s, the fruit of different ‘‘carte blanche’’ opportunities given to the artists partaking in the collections.
