Composer Bruno Mantovani on Tour at the Bolivar Foundation in Venezuela

On December 6-13, 2014, the Simon Bolivar Music Foundation has invited the composer Bruno Mantovani to take part in its music education program for underprivileged children.

The Simon Bolivar Music Foundation – more widely known as El Sistema – is a music education program set up in Venezuela in 1975 for underprivileged children, aiming to fight social exclusion via musical education.

250,000 children today take part in El Sistema’s free instrument training as well as in a host of young orchestras of the Foundation, now 125 all over the country. Great artists such as the musical conductor Gustavo Dudamel began their musical training via the Foundation.

The arrival of composer Bruno Mantovani marks a continuation of a collaboration in action for several years now with the Simon Bolivar Music Foundation, to enable students to discover and progress in their interpretation of a 20th century repertoire. The work conducted at rehearsals with different ensembles of the Foundation will lead to a concert at the end of the week.

As Director of the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique of Paris, Bruno Mantovani will also take part in visits and rehearsals of the Foundation’s different branches.
