Danse l'Afrique danse! in Saint-Louis, Senegal

Following Tunis and Yaoundé, Danse l’Afrique danse! (Dance Africa Dance!) set up shop in Saint-Louis, Senegal, as part of the Duo Solo Danse Festival.

From June 3 to 7, 2015, Duo Solo Danse, an international contemporary dance festival held each year in June in Saint-Louis, Senegal, welcomed the 3rd Danse l’Afrique danse! platform. Within this scope, to be discovered beforehand were choreographers and budding creation from all over the region, Senegal as well as Mali, Chad, Benin, Ivory Coast and Mauritania.

Assisted by the Danse l’Afrique danse! choreographic writing residency program, four winners in 2015 presented their work: Momar Ndiaye (Senegal), Compagnie Yefihmoa (Ivory Coast), Adonis Nebie (Burkina Faso) for a duet and Yaya Sarria (Chad) for a solo. Nuit blanche à Ouagadougou, by Serge-Aimé Coulibaly, touring in Africa and Germany, was also presented at the Festival on June 6.

Since its creation in 2008, Duo Solo Danse is a stepping stone for national and international talent, offering a framework for exchanges and encounters between artists, choreographers, professionals and the public, from different horizons.

After Saint-Louis, the next platform supported by the Danse l’Afrique danse! event will be held within the scope of the Kinani Festival in Maputo, Mozambique, on October 16-20, 2015.

Danse l’Afrique danse! falls within the scope of the Afrique et Caraïbes en créations program.

Duo Solo Danse is organized by Diagn'Art with the assistance of the Institut français, and in partnership with Total.
