Danse l’Afrique danse ! Triennale in Ouagadougou

To complete a series of the Afrique et Caraïbes en créations program of the Institut français, in partnership with the Total Foundation, the triennale Danse l’Afrique will be held in Ouagadougou with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Tourism of Burkina Faso.
Following 17 residencies devoted to creation held within the last two years and four regional platforms in Tunis, Yaoundé, Saint-Louis Senegal and Maputo, the Triennial offers a selection of works by young choreographers discovered there.
Under the artistic leadership of Salia Sanou, Seydou Boro, and coordinated by Irène Tassembédo, this edition of Danse l’Afrique danse! Triennial offers over 30 guest troupes. With as its theme ‘‘Memory and Transmission’’, the Triennial will also revisit the history of Danse l’Afrique danse! since it first began in Luanda in 1995, presenting a new rendition of several emblematic pieces passed town to young interpreters. Finally, it will also call on the presence of major personalities from the realm of women’s creation in Africa.
