Day of Korea in French Schools

French students will be given an opportunity to learn about Korea during a special day dedicated to this subject. The Day of Korea will mirror a Day in France organized on the same day in Korea.
On March 24, 2016, French schools volunteering for the event in over 10 French school districts will experience a ‘‘Day in Korea’’. On the agenda are taekwondo workshops, k-pop (Korean Pop), traditional music, manhwa (comics), calligraphy and Korean, organized above all by the French Association for Teachers of Korean Culture and Language (AFELACC).

Proposed by Najat Vallaud-Belkacem, French Minister of Education, Higher Education and Research, this day falls within the scope of the 2015-2016 France-Korea Year. It will enable a large number of students to learn about the Korean language, culture and history.

The official opening of this Korean Day will take place at the Claude-Monet High School in Paris. A videoconference will be organized between this high school and the Seoul High School. It will be followed by a visit of an exhibit of works made by students at Korean workshops. In the afternoon, a roundtable discussion on ‘‘Choosing Korea to further one’s studies or to begin one’s professional life’’, bringing together students from schools in Greater Paris, will be held at the Janson-de-Sailly High School.

Shows and exhibits have been planned for the school districts of Rouen, Bordeaux, Strasbourg, Dijon, Versailles, Créteil, Nantes, etc. for this ‘‘Day in Korea’’ as well as throughout the 2015-2016 France-Korea Year.

On the same day, Korea will be organizing a ‘‘Day in France’’ in Korean schools.
