« Dialogues de corps » Choreographic Encounters in Burkina Faso

On December 5-13, 2014, about thirty dance companies took part in the 11th edition of the Burkina Faso « Dialogues de corps » Festival in Ouagadougou.

The « Dialogues de corps » Festival, truly a must in events devoted to choreographic creation, finds its roots and energy at the core of the actions of the Centre de développement chorégraphique La Termitière (La Termitière Center of Choreographic Development), with renowned choreographers such as Salia Sanou and Seydou Boro and the Salia ni Seydou dance company, initiator of the Festival.

In 2014, the Festival welcomed approximately 30 dance companies from eleven African countries, two from North America and two from Europe for a dynamic program made up of dance performances as well as professional encounters, a café-concert, lectures and training sessions. More than 30,000 festival-goers were expected at the La Termitière Center, the different regional Instituts français, at the “marché des cycles”, the heart of Malian refugee camps, and the CITO (International Crossroads of the Ouagadougou Theater).

In addition, the 2014 editions offered an opportunity to announce another wide-scale cultural event, Danse, l’Afrique danse!, with its third regional platform to be held in Ouagadougou in 2016 within the scope of the “Dialogues de Corps” Festival and International Dance Festival of Ouagadougou.

This project has been given the support of the Institut français within its Afrique et Caraïbe en créations (Africa and Caribbean Emerging Arts) program and within the framework of its partnership agreement with the City of Paris.
