Korea, a series of Events

Within the scope of the 2015-2016 France-Korea Year, celebrating 130 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries, 42 librairies of the City of Paris will shed light on the Korean society. 
From January to April, 2016, more than 100 events will be organized by the libraries of the City of Paris to question Korean culture and society, including readings, screenings of documentaries, exhibits and discussions bringing together authors, historians, artists and specialists alike on Korea.
 
On the agenda are the following encounters: the history of Korea in order to understand contemporary construction; the country’s urbanization embodied in its capital, Seoul; the role of women in Korean society; the education system, the cultural model (K-pop, drama, manhwas, etc.); the Korean economic model: How to explain the emergence of this giant in the world for 30 years?; the Korean technological model, the technical revolution, the state-of-the-art sector, the ‘‘Samsung Republic’’; Korean literature, detective novels, poetry, novels and short stories.
 
Teenagers and children will also be able to take part in the workshops offered, particularly concerning comics, digital formats and musical shows.
 
These events fall within the scope of the 2015-2016 France-Korea Year launched in September 2015, celebrating 130 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
