Nestor Siré, First Cuban artist to win the visas for creation program

Néstor Siré, the first Cuban to win the Visas for Creation residency program, to take place in Marseille up until October 25, 2016, will take part in the Todo Abierto exhibit, the date of its opening set for November 4 at the Friche Belle de Mai.
For his residency in Dos Mares, Néstor Siré first of all devoted his time to getting accustomed to his new environment, the Cuban artist coming to Europe for the very first time, who was initially fascinated and taken aback by the society he had come to discover. He then became committed to working on daily strategies, with an inventory taken of the human’s abilities that develop from a need to take advantage of whatever little he has got.

During his residency period in Marseille, Néstor Siré will produce two works for the Todo Abierto exhibit, orchestrated by curator Didier Gourvennec, the grand opening to take place on November 4.
