A triennial directed by Saâdane Afif
Born in 1970 in Vendôme, France, Saâdane Afif lives and works in Berlin. Trained at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Bourges, he was awarded the Prix Marcel Duchamp in 2009 and the Prix Meurice in 2015. That same year, he participated in the 56th Venice Biennale. His work explores different media, from music to sculpture, writing and performance.
Saâdane Afif has appointed Yasmine d'O. as curator of Bergen Assembly 2022. She invites the audience to follow a fictional character, also named Yasmine, in search of Heptahedron, a mysterious shape consisting of seven parts. Yasmine's quest leads her to meet seven enigmatic characters who give their names to the seven exhibitions to be discovered throughout Bergen.
Entitled Yasmine and the Seven Faces of the Heptahedron, Yasmine d'O's proposal is inspired by a play, L'Heptaèdre, commissioned in 2016 by Saâdane Afif from the French author Thomas Clerc, in which the 7 characters to be found in Bergen already feature.
The PERSPEKTIVE fund supports Side Magazine

Side Magazine is dedicated to the seven characters of L'Heptaèdre. In order of appearance, these characters are The Professor, The Moped Rider, The Bonimenteur, The Fortune Teller, An Acrobat, The Coalman and The Tourist.
