A collaboration between BNP Paribas, The Rencontres d’Arles and Fisheye, the VR Arles Festival welcomed more than 40,000 spectators for its fourth edition in summer 2019.
In four years, the VR Arles Festival has become one of Virtual Reality’s unmissable events, offering an opportunity to discover the best virtual artists and explore experiences which include works of fiction, documentaries and artistic creations. It offers a true overview of the many possibilities created by this immersive media format through a selection of narrative, interactive, dreamlike and collective virtual reality works and installations.
In 2019, a multidisciplinary jury chaired by Charlotte Rampling awarded four prizes, two of which recognised French works: the Fiction Prize was awarded to 7 Lives produced by Charles Ayats, Sabrina Calvo and Jan Kounen, while the Visions Prize was awarded to HanaHana:Multi-Bloom by the artist Mélodie Mousset.
For a weekend in Paris, from 31st January to 2nd February, the VR Arles Festival offers an exceptional encore of the 2019 Arles selection: the 31st January is reserved for the press and industry professionals, on the premises of Leonard: Paris, the future city laboratory created by VINCI, and on 1st and 2nd February 2020 the festival is open to the public.
Come and discover, free of charge and in a prestigious setting, a selection of some fifteen works which were presented during the 2019 edition of the Arles festival, including 4 experiences accessible to young audiences.

The VR Arles Festival and the Institut français have joined forces to offer a writing residency dedicated to immersive practices. For a week, the residency hosted at the Saint-Césaire convent in Arles will offer participants practical workshops, individual support, writing time, discussion time, meetings and master classes with professionals from the worlds of immersive realities, visual and sound arts, performance and images.
