Supporting

the French cultural and creative industries

The Institut français participates in the development of a key sector of the French economy, the cultural and creative industries, by promoting their international availability and visibility.

The Institut français represents all forms of French creativity (handicrafts, digital arts, lifestyle, fashion, video games, design, and architecture as well as live performance, publishing, cinema and the visual arts) and contributes to the visibility of creators and companies from the cultural and creative industries in major influential markets.

In close cooperation with French professionals and stakeholders in the sector (Unifrance, CNC, TVFI, Film France), it ensures the non-commercial promotion and distribution of films, documentaries, and TV series’-- classics and recent creations alike.

The Institut français also contributes to the development of the French music industry abroad, in cooperation with the relevant French specialized bodies (the Export Office, SACEM, CNV).

The Institut français also promotes the diversity of French publishing abroad (both fiction and non-fiction), in consultation with institutional and professional stakeholders in the sector, through publication and rights acquisition assistance programmes and offering support for the training of translators.
