As a forum for dialogue between French and foreign cinema, the Pavillon Les Cinémas du monde, a showcase for the French Institute's La Fabrique Cinéma, once again welcomes French and international industry professionals to a rich program of round tables, masterclasses, workshops and professional meetings. In parallel, Shoot the Book! Cannes, organized in partnership with SCELF, will highlight literary works with audiovisual adaptation potential.

The Cinemas of the World Pavilion

The Pavillon Les Cinémas du monde, orchestrated by the Institut français in partnership with France Médias Monde and the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), is a unique space within the Village International of the Cannes Film Festival. This pavilion, open from May 14 to 20, 2025, is a platform for exchanges, meetings and work for film professionals from all over the world.

Each year, this pavilion hosts round tables, masterclasses and professional meetings aimed at promoting cinematic diversity. In 2025, the program places particular emphasis on links between Brazil and France as part of the Saison France-Brésil, as well as international co-productions, notably with the Caucasus.

La Fabrique Cinéma

At the heart of the Les Cinémas du monde Pavilion, La Fabrique Cinéma at the Institut français highlights ten film projects from Southern and emerging countries. The 2025 selection includes nine fictions and one documentary, directed by six women and four men. This year marks the entry of projects from Cape Verde and Kyrgyzstan, reinforcing the geographical diversity of the initiative.

From one continent to another (Africa, the Americas, Asia, the Middle East), the projects in selection 2025 engage in dialogue with common subjects such as exile, migration, territory, identity or filiation.

Created in 2009, La Fabrique Cinéma has already supported 164 projects from 67 different nationalities, accompanying 302 filmmakers and producers, including 46% women. Almost 40% of these projects have been turned into films, shown at international festivals or on screens around the world.

Shoot the Book! Cannes

Parallel to this, the French Institute is also organizing the Shoot the Book! Cannes, in partnership with the SCELF (Société Civile des Éditeurs de Langue Française). The program highlights French and international literary works with strong potential for audiovisual adaptation. In 2025, this 12th edition will take place on May 15 and 16. A pitch session will bring together international publishers and producers, offering unique visibility to selected works.

On May 15, a masterclass entitled "From book to screen: focus on Brazil's IP and audiovisual markets" will be organized as part of the France-Brazil Season, to explore trends in the Brazilian market in the field of audiovisual adaptation.
