11th Montreuil Film Festival: unseen films from Aide aux cinémas du monde
The 11th Montreuil Film Festival runs from 27 September to 3 October 2023. This year, the organisers have added a non-competitive section dedicated to Aide aux cinémas du monde (ACM), a scheme led by the Institut français and the Centre national du cinéma et de l'image animée.

Open to films from all over the world, Aide aux cinémas du monde encourages collaboration between French production companies and foreign producers. Its aim is to promote global cinematographic diversity and the emergence of international talent, to consolidate France's position as a leading country for the international co-production of arthouse cinema, and to stimulate the employment of French technicians and technical industries. 587 films of 110 different nationalities have been greenlit and 430 films have been shot to date with its support. ACM films such as Mustang, The Lunchbox, The Cairo Conspiracy and, more recently, As Bestas have been seen by over 30 million cinemagoers across Europe, including 14 million in France. However, in the post-Covid context, some of the exceptional films supported by the World Cinema Fund commissions are not finding their way into cinemas, judged to be too demanding, too fragile or coming from countries without a cinematic reputation. The "Les inédits de l'Aide aux cinémas du monde" section of the 11th Montreuil Film Festival is an opportunity to discover 7 of these films.
