62 beneficiaries were selected for the 2024 edition of the MIRA programme – International Mobility for Artistic Research. In 2023, the Institut français launched the "MIRA" programme, a call for applications that reimagined the former "Résidences sur Mesure" and "Stendhal" grants, thereby enhancing the mobility of French artistic creation internationally.
MIRA is open to French artists, or foreign artists residing in France for more than 5 years, without any age limit, whether solo or in duo, who wish to undertake and/or deepen research in one or more countries, without a host framework or imposed format, for a minimum duration of one month.
MIRA supports artisans, artists, and authors in their initial stages of research, offering them an invaluable opportunity to work with diverse artistic and cultural environments worldwide, thereby facilitating the exchange of ideas, creativity, and mutual enrichment.
To promote these exchanges, the Institut français systematically connects the beneficiaries with the diplomatic network, cultural services of embassies, Alliances françaises, and the Institut français of the respective countries.
In 2023, 40 beneficiaries (38 projects) received mobility grants to develop their artistic research in 21 countries.
New edition of the programme in 2024
Thanks to strengthened efforts and the introduction of a new section dedicated to crafts as part of the "Plan métiers d’art" strategy led by the Ministry of Culture, 62 beneficiaries (52 projects) will continue their creative work in 41 countries. A flat-rate grant for living expenses, ranging from €4,000 to €6,000 depending on the countries and durations, is awarded to the beneficiaries to carry out their artistic research.
The Institut français thanks the numerous experts, both internal and external, independent and institutional, who participated in the MIRA 2024 selection, and congratulates the selected MIRA beneficiaries for their creativity and artistic commitment.
