On 18 and 19 November 2023, the world of African esports witnessed a historic event when the Swahili Esports Champions were held at the Nairobi Comic Convention (NAICCON). This competition highlighted the growing importance of esports in Africa and its potential as an inclusive and egalitarian field.

The Queen Arrow Invitational brought together eight exceptional TEKKEN 7 players, from 8 African countries to compete for the title of best TEKKEN player in Africa. Selected by Queen Arrow herself, these competitors delivered remarkable performances, demonstrating their talent and determination in this two-phase tournament.

The Swahili Esports Champions initiative marks an important milestone in the promotion of esports and gender equality in the video games sector in Africa. 

This project was developed and implemented by SAGES (Services for Africa Gaming and Esports), a company co-founded by Désiré Koussawo, an expert in the development of esports in emerging countries, in close partnership with the French Institute, and with the support of other organisations and sponsors such as the Alliance Française of Nairobi, NAICCON, Liquid Intelligent Technologies and the Africa Esports Championship. But also with the support of the French Institutes in Benin, Madagascar, Rwanda and South Africa and the French Embassies in Kenya, Madagascar and Nigeria.
