French-Chinese Exhibition on Contemporary Architecture at the Zhejiang Art Museum
From March 29 to May 5, the Zhejiang Art Museum in Hangzhou (China) hosted the exhibition "Interconnection," bringing together young French and Chinese architects. Organized by the Consulate General of France in Shanghai and the Zhejiang Art Museum, with support from the Cité de l'architecture et du patrimoine and the Institut français, the exhibition particularly highlighted the work of the winners of the Albums des jeunes architectes et paysagistes (Ajap) in 2018 and 2020.

The meeting point between creation and education was at the heart of this exhibition of young French and Chinese talents, providing an opportunity to exchange ideas on emerging new practices. There was a particular focus on the design process, emphasizing hands-on creation and craftsmanship.

The collaboration with the China Academy of Arts on this project underscores the expertise of the Observatoire de l’architecture de la Chine contemporaine, which, within the Cité de l'architecture et du patrimoine, has been fostering connections between France and China for several years.
The Cité de l'architecture et du patrimoine preselected young graduates by relying on other institutions with which it collaborates to create synergies, such as the Maison de l’architecture d’Île-de-France and the Académie d’architecture, which organize an annual Best Graduates Prize, as well as the Écoles nationales supérieures d’architecture of Versailles and Paris-Belleville, and the École spéciale d’architecture, which have already established exchanges with China.

A jury chaired by Wang Shu and Lu Wenyu then selected young graduates from various Écoles nationales supérieures d’architecture and six firms of young French architects, winners of the Ajap 2018 and 2020: Atelier Boteko, Paris; GRAMME, Paris; Lis & Daneau, Grenoble; Moon Walk Local Architectes, Bordeaux; Orma Architettura, Corte (Corsica); Atelier Régis Roudil Architectes, Aix-en-Provence.
