After the tragic death of his painter friend Viktor Hartmann, the Russian composer Modest Mussorgsky wrote ten pieces for piano in his honour, which were performed during the retrospective devoted to him in 1973. Conceived as a journey through an exhibition, the different pieces take the listener on a journey through the landscapes of Hartmann's paintings, from the Kiev Gate to the Polish countryside. Half a century later, Maurice Ravel would orchestrate and enrich these scores

As part of the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional's amateur and professional artistic season, a series of three symphonic concerts by the Orchestre de la Région Réunion was presented to the Réunionese public on 29 September, 1 and 2 October 2022:  Polovstian Dances from the opera Prince Igor by Alexander Borodin, Pavane pour une Infante Défunte by Maurice Ravel, and Pictures at an Exhibition by Modest Mussorgsky.

Mauritian musicians Jean Félix and Guy-Noël Clarisse, and Madagascan musicians Henintsoa Rabarijaona and Ravo Raboanarison were invited by the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional in Saint-Benoit to play with the Orchestre de la Région Réunion. The four musicians are recipients of the Institut français' Indianoceanic Mobility Fund, supported by the Directorates of Cultural Affairs (DACs) of Réunion and Mayotte, an opportunity both for cooperation between these territories and for the quality of artistic and cultural exchange:

"The Indianoceanic Mobility Fund has reinforced the desire of the DAC Réunion to bring together these four Mauritian and Madagascan artists to work with their peers within the Orchestre de la Région Réunion on our territory. Other desires will probably emerge from this new encounter, from this time of sharing and emotion to enrich practices and human relations..."
