The program will showcase original approaches to sound, listening, and temporality. The festival will explore different periods of Japanese acousmatic music, from the pioneers who created the legendary NHK studio to the new generation. Additionally, a selection of music from composers around the world who have drawn inspiration from Japan will be presented.
The event includes 18 concerts, an all-night event, sound creation workshops, and conferences.
The festival will host composers and musicologists, including Kazuko Narita, founder of ACSM116 and the first Japanese acousmonium; Takuro Shibayama, initiator of the Denshi Onkyo People Project; and Ayako Sato, also a professional acousmonium performer.
With this 2024 edition, the Futura festival continues its intense exploration of extraordinary sound worlds, bringing them to all curious ears.
