As part of their partnership, the Institut français and the City of Paris aim to support key events taking place in the context of the Olympic and Paralympic Games and to strengthen the bond between the two upcoming Olympic capitals: Paris and Los Angeles. 

That's why the Institut français and the City of Paris are delighted to jointly support, two months before the opening of Paris 2024, the ambitious programme of the Playin Paris Festival organised by La Place, a hip-hop cultural centre, in the heart of the capital. The ambition of this festival, which combines a 3x3 basketball tournament, breakdance battles, graffiti exhibitions, and a DJ contest, is to build a dynamic of cultural and sports exchange between France and the United States by promoting mobility and encounters between young artists and athletes and by being a catalyst for youth mobilisation in the perspective of the Olympics. 

As an official Cultural Olympiad event, the festival offers the public an original proposition that finds its relevance in the obvious connections between the two new Olympic disciplines and the hip-hop artistic offerings that will be unveiled on this occasion. 

The festival's program thus highlights Los Angeles: 

• GRAFFITI PERFORMANCE and EXHIBITION – May 22nd and 23rd 

Renowned artist Defer, a key figure in LA's street art scene since the 1980s, will present work done with Fuzi under the Canopée of Les Halles: May 22nd: live performance and May 23rd: inauguration. 

• DJ CONTEST – Friday, May 24th 

DJ Contest: Headlining DJs select promising young DJs from France, Los Angeles, Belgium, Germany, and Italy. Featuring the legendary DJ Babu from Los Angeles accompanied by a young rookie. 

• CLUBBING NIGHT – Friday, May 24th 

Featuring DJ BABU (US) and DJ PONE (Fr) - two historical figures in French and US DJing - (at La Place from 10:30 pm to 1 am). 

• 3x3 BASKETBALL FINALS – Saturday, May 25th 

With the presence of a team from the prestigious Venice basketball of Los Angeles.
