Decided by Presidents Emmanuel Macron and Gitanas Nausėda, the Season of Lithuania in France will run from September 12 to December 12, 2024. The starting point for a renewal of Franco-Lithuanian cultural exchanges, the Season of Lithuania in France will present contemporary Lithuania and its culture to the French public in a wide variety of formats: performances, exhibitions, shows, screenings, debates, conferences, gastronomy... It also aims to initiate long-term cooperation between Lithuanian institutions and creators and their French partners.
For three months, you will discover contemporary Lithuania and its culture through over 200 events all over France, with a program shaped by 3 themes:
- Global Neighborhoods: a polyphonic dialogue on the differences between nations, cultures and civilizations.
- Empowered Identities: a look at gender in contemporary Europe.
- Unleashed Imagination: an invitation to imagine the twenty-second century and envision scenarios for the future.
Virginija Vitkienė, general commissioner of the Season of Lithuania in France, shares with us her vision of the upcoming Season, the main themes which will shape it, as well as the highlights of the programme.
The Season of Lithuania in France is implemented by the Lithuanian Culture Institute and the Institut français, in close collaboration with the Lithuanian Embassy in France, the French Embassy in Lithuania and the Institut français of Lithuania, under the authority of the French Ministries for Europe and Foreign Affairs and for Culture, as well as the Lithuanian Ministry for Culture.
In partnership with ARTE, RATP, France Médias Monde (RFI, France 24 and Monte Carlo Doualiya), and TV5MONDE.
