Rebuilding Ukraine: hopes, prospects and challenges

An event taking place on 10th December 2022 at the Goethe-Institut Paris.

After nine months of war, life in Ukrainian cities has changed dramatically. Attacks on essential infrastructure have left entire cities without water, electricity and heat as winter descends on the country, and people are learning to live in a new reality.

Entire cities have been destroyed, as if wiped off the face of the earth. Mariupol, Soledar, Bakhmut, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv and many others continue to suffer from constant bombing and shelling.

Inevitably, the war will change the way Ukrainians look at and relate to the development of cities and public spaces. Since the outbreak of the war on 24 February 2022, civil society has been actively engaged in developing shelters and new housing for displaced people, transforming cultural centres into humanitarian centres, renewing the type of interactions with public authorities, and developing new projects for the Ukraine of tomorrow.

Open to the public, the round tables will bring together representatives of civil society, urban planners, architects and experts from different countries. Starting at 13:00.

The event is organised by the members of the EUNIC Paris cluster, the Goethe-Institut Paris, the Institut français and the Polish Institute, in partnership with Ro3kvit and IZOLYATSIA.

Free admission, Registration: info-paris@goethe.de
