From 23 to 25 March 2023, Isabelle Bertolotti – director of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Lyon, Alexia Fabre – curator of the Lyon Biennale, François Piron – exhibition curator at the Palais de Tokyo, Céline Poulin – director of the Frac Île-de-France, Marta Ponsa – head of artistic projects and cultural action at the Jeu de Paume and Émilie Villez – director of the Kadist Foundation, travelled to Vilnius, Lithuania’s booming capital city, to discover or learn more about the Lithuanian contemporary art scene.
This trip enabled them to meet the key players on the Lithuanian scene, including artists, art historians, exhibition curators and directors of institutions. Accompanied by Virginija Vietkiene, curator of the Season, they visited a large number of artists’ studios, cultural institutions and spaces run by artists, such as the National Gallery, the Vilnius Contemporary Art Centre, SODAS 2123 and the MO museum. It was a packed and lively programme, much like the Lithuanian art and cultural scene, which will be showcased in France in autumn 2024.
