Strange night of design: The action of design faced with current realities, 24 hours of discussion around the world

As part of Lille Métropole 2020 World Design Capital, the Civic City association is organising the Strange night of design from Saturday 10 to Sunday 11 October in partnership with the Institut français and the World Design Organization.

The Franco-Swiss designers Ruedi and Vera Baur, founders of the Civic City association, have conceived a night of reflection on the present and future of design with more than 70 participants from all over the world at the Tri Postal in Lille and on social media. To think about the role of design collectively faced with the future of our society, the programme is developed around a series of interviews with designers, personalities and design theoreticians elaborating on critical thought about their activity.

These discussions are part of the Et soudain, la Terre fut immobilisée (And suddenly the world stopped turning project that Ruedi and Vera Baur initiated during lockdown by conducting a series of filmed interviews with designers).

Some of these interviews are broadcasted on the Institut français YouTube Channel
