To mark the start of the new school year, the Cité Internationale des Arts is opening a window into a fascinating workplace: the artist’s studio. Every month, 300 artists come together in this location in Paris’ 4th Arrondissement, in partnership with organisations such as the Institut Français, which enables nearly 70 artists to enjoy this exceptional setting every year. In September, ten of the artists who have benefited from the Institut Français residencies programme and the Visas for Creation programme open the doors of their workshops to the general public for two days of artistic exchange and discovery.

An inspiring encounter

The Traversées du Marais at the Cité Internationale des Arts allow artists to showcase their recent work, created out on-site. The public can thus explore the workshops, as well as attending presentations, screenings, performances, and reflections on residencies. All this along with the possibility of meeting and speaking with the artists present about their current research and works.

The perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in culture! Featuring not only the chance to discover a place usually inaccessible to the general public, but also opportunities for encounters, discussions and various cultural events with international artists.

Foreign Sensibilities

Created in 1965, the Cité Internationale des Arts is tasked with welcoming international artists in all disciplines (visual arts, cinema, dance, music) in the heart of Paris for periods of residency ranging from a few weeks to six months. Each artist is given a personal workspace in this inspiring setting, and benefits from group workshops, an auditorium, rehearsal studios and a gallery, as well as modular spaces for filming needs. The Cité Internationale des Arts is intended to be a place for living and creation that is particularly diverse, adapting to each individual depending on to his or her project.

These open days provide a better understanding of how a sensibility fits into a particular workplace.
