With 1,000 translations per year, French is the third most translated language in Germany, and this is reflected at the Frankfurt International Book Fair: 1,000 m2 on the stand of the Bureau international de l'édition française (BIEF) and 150 publishing houses present make the French stand the largest and most represented at the fair.

Organised by the Institut français d'Allemagne or its partners, 20 events took place within this framework, an opportunity to highlight the dynamism of Franco-German cultural relations. These included star illustrator Benjamin Lacombe, new voices in French literature Diaty Diallo and Inès Bayard, world-renowned anthropologist Philippe Descola, comic strip and children's book author Dorothée de Monfreid and Cameroonian literary celebrity Djaïli Amadou Amal, nominated for the Young Literature Prize.
