The Institut français in Spain is launching a project and tour for DjToner Q4rtet and Erik Truffaz

As part of its support for artistic residencies between France and Spain, and particularly within the MARTE project, the Institut français in Spain facilitated the establishment of an artistic residency with Erik Truffaz and Spanish musician DJToner (Antonio Herrera). The two artists developed an artistic project that led to an album, Out Side, released in Spain on May 5, and which will be presented during three concerts in Madrid, London, and Paris on October 5, 6, and 7.

On the occasion of promoting and presenting the album Out Side, the two artists will embark on a series of concerts across Europe. This experience will immerse the audience in the world of jazz and electronic music.

The veteran Spanish DJ and producer, DjToner, joins forces with the legendary Blue Note Records trumpeter, Erik Truffaz. A leading artist and DJ in the Spanish urban music scene, Toner has been attracting collaborations with world-class musicians for many years. With Erik Truffaz, whose trumpet sound is instantly recognizable, they promise a unique and timeless live performance that will leave no one indifferent.

DjToner (aka Antonio Herrera) belongs to the Spanish "old school" scene. As a dedicated and knowledgeable artist within the more "midtempo" universe of Black Music for decades, his productions are heavily influenced by jazz, hip-hop, soul, funk, and electronic music. His pure style in mixing, scratching, and production has made him a leading artist and DJ on the Spanish urban music scene, drawing collaborations with top-class musicians. Erik Truffaz's instantly identifiable trumpet sound, combined with decades of experience, promises a unique and eagerly awaited live performance.

Album - Out Side

DjToner, a timeless musician, DJ, and producer, has been advocating for years for the visibility of a fusion that broadens the field of jazz and electronic music. In his latest album, Out Side, he reaffirms a handcrafted approach, asking each musician for a particular note or specific tone, extracting the essence of the whole, and refining the final product both on the recorded album and in direct contact with the audience. From his work with Domestic Jazz Collective and Enrique Morente in Granada to this infinite outer landscape, featuring collaborations with Erik Truffaz and Jorge Pardo, Toner offers a slow, ritual-like sound, layering sonic textures that culminate in a sacred sound, the 'echo.' His mixing technique and rhythmic knowledge, drawn from his experience as a drummer and percussionist, are as essential as the minimalist arrangements by Toner and Dani Molina. The notes, phrases, and themes are organically interwoven into a narrative of their own. The sound projected by the ten tracks of this Out Side album is definitively a journey to infinity, beyond time and space.
