With the support of the Institut français and the City of Paris, the Cité de la musique – Philharmonie de Paris and the Parisian association Polynotes, in partnership with the two social music schools in Yaoundé, L’Arbre à musique and Olia Lima, came together in October 2024 for a teacher training project for Cameroonian educators.

It was an intensive program that engaged all stakeholders over five days in Yaoundé, Cameroon. The training focused on four key areas: individual instrumental technique and teaching tools, instrumental pedagogy through orchestral practice, orchestral arrangement, and conducting.
This skills enhancement project benefited 29 local teachers and 78 students, working on both classical music and pieces from Cameroon’s heritage. To conclude this vibrant collaboration and give it the recognition it deserved, a final performance was held at the National Museum of Yaoundé.
The Institut français and the City of Paris, through their proactive support, made this project possible. Following a multi-stakeholder approach, the initiative strengthens cooperation with Francophone Africa, particularly with Yaoundé—a city with which Paris shares a close friendship. It also supports local actors who work towards cultural democratization and social cohesion through music education.
