The exhibition Ee qui se trame - Histoires tissées entre l'Inde et la France will open its doors on December 4, 2025 at the Mobilier national. Organized by Manufactures nationales - Sèvres & Mobilier national, the Institut français and the French Embassy in India, this exceptional event will be dedicated to textile creation, at the crossroads of contemporary art and craftsmanship.
Thought of as an encounter between two great textile traditions, this unique event will blend exhibition and festival, offering a cross-view of textile practices and exceptional know-how in India and France.
Under the dual curatorship of Christian Louboutin and Mayank Kaul, associate curator and renowned expert on Indian textiles, this exhibition will present a selection of emblematic works: contemporary creations from the Villa Swagatam residency program, pieces from the Manufactures nationales collections, but also treasures from major French and Indian institutions. A sensitive and inspired dialogue that juxtaposes gestures, know-how and territories through unprecedented collaborations with French and Indian artists.
Around the exhibition, the Institut français will be organizing two professional days, on December 4 and 5, bringing together leading experts on these subjects from India and many other countries. On December 6 and 7, the "Histoires tissées" festival will offer a series of events open to the public: round tables, performances and demonstrations by craftsmen. A lively space for sharing, reflecting the links forged between creators, institutions and know-how.
