European Dialogues in Helsinki: "How to combat misinformation" with David Colon
Published on 23 October 2024
Researcher and associate professor at the Centre d'histoire de Sciences Po Paris, David Colon is taking part in the Dialogues européens in Helsinki, Finland, on October 23 and 24. Initiated by the French Institute, the Dialogues européens project consists of a series of themed public meetings in various European cities. In Helsinki, David Colon, author of La Guerre de l'information, is invited to discuss the theme L'information et les médias face à la guerre. He answered for us some questions that will be developed in Helsinki.
The concomitant advent of social networks and smartphones has turned the relationship to information on its head.
Before further stops in Rennes in November, then in other European cities in 2025, the "European Dialogues" scheduled in Helsinki on October 23 and 24 will focus on the central question of information in times of war, in a context of polarized discourse, multiplication of distribution channels, sometimes also mistrust of journalists, but also the increasingly massive use of disinformation campaigns by certain state and non-state actors, a situation culminating in the "militarization of information".
