Our future in Côte d'Ivoire, April 20-22, 2024: "Inheriting the future".
Published on 9 June 2024
5th stage in the "Our Future" cycle of Africa-Europe forums, initiated by the French Institute in October 2022 to intensify relations between Africa and Europe, the forum "Inheriting the future: let's value the diversity of heritage to create a common future" took place in Abidjan from April 20 to 22, 2024. It brought together researchers, young representatives of civil society organizations, creators and cultural entrepreneurs around the issues of "identities, heritage and cultural and creative industries".
Over 3 days, debates and conversations focused on questioning the role of CCIs in enhancing heritage and interpreting collective memories. Participatory workshops and working sessions focused on the emergence of concrete solutions and projects. They made it possible to offer common perspectives to creative sectors keen to engage in dynamics of conservation, transmission and circulation of tangible and intangible heritage, while facilitating efforts to reappropriate identities and build a shared history between the two continents.
The forum was co-constructed by an executive committee of Ivorian and African personalities, the French Embassy in Côte d'Ivoire, the Institut français de Côte d'Ivoire, the Institut français and the European Union delegation in Côte d'Ivoire.
