Director Philippe Quesne on European tour
Published on 12 February 2026
Director and visual artist Philippe Quesne, a major figure in contemporary French theater, is set to present his latest creation, Le Paradoxe de John, as part of a European tour supported by the French Institute's Programme International de Diffusion Artistique (PIDA).
Created in November 2025 at La Commune - Centre dramatique national d'Aubervilliers as part of the Festival d'Automne, Le Paradoxe de John continues Philippe Quesne's singular exploration of the place of art in our daily lives, blending humor, poetry and a set design inhabited by an offbeat community.
Touring in 6 venues and 4 countries
After its first performances in France, the play embarks on a European tour of six venues and four countries, offering international audiences the opportunity to discover this new creation. Announced stops include:
- HAU - Hebbel am Ufer, Berlin (Germany) ;
- Kampnagel, Hamburg (Germany) ;
- Maison St-Gervais, Geneve (Switzerland).
The role of the PIDA program
The tour is supported by the Programme International de Diffusion Artistique (PIDA), which accompanies distribution and cooperation projects, as well as the presence of French artists at major international prescriptor events.
