With #EXOTERRITOIRES, the Le Clair Obscur company invites spectators on a singular journey, one initially reserved for astronauts. Alongside them, they set off in search of traces, possibly of life or intelligence, to discover the Earth as an exoplanet. Thanks to support from the French Institute's IF Export program, the show is touring Montreal (June 18 to 22) and Miami (June 28).
The Le Clair Obscur company is a permanent artistic laboratory dedicated to new imaginaries. Founded twenty years ago in Caen, it brings together artists, authors, researchers and engineers around Frédéric Deslias to create performances at the crossroads of art, science and technology. Trained at IRCAM, the director works on forms and contents, exploring the territories of digital, immersive, prospective arts, and science fiction.
In #EXOTERRITOIRES, compagnie Le Clair Obscur invites a group of spectators to don spacesuits and embark on a space mission alongside an astronaut for an urban exploration. During this journey, they carry out an exobiological experiment on an unknown planet, and rethink the way they look at things. Through this prism, they set out in search of traces, whether of life, symbiosis, parasitism or even intelligence.
A nomadic show in the form of a performance, #EXOTERRITOIRES draws spectators into a dream world, that of spacemen, and invites them to travel for the duration of a singular experience. As scientific as it is playful, this mission pushes them to ask new questions and discover the Earth, the better to rediscover its everyday life. The opportunity for an exciting journey and an astonishing launch into orbit.
With #EXOTERRITOIRES, the Le Clair Obscur company has carried out various residencies, including one in 2018 at the CNES - Observatoire de l'Espace in Paris and the other at the Folie Numérique in the Parc de la Villette. A tour has also been underway since 2018: the company has already been able to perform throughout France, as well as in Luxembourg and London in 2022. With the support of the French Institute's IF Export program, #EXOTERRITOIRES will be seen at the Elektra Festival in Montreal from June 18 to 21, before considering a stint in Miami and the FilmGate Festival on June 28, 2026.
IF export is a program of the Institut français, which supports French or French-based creators and cultural partners internationally, for projects involving distribution, cooperation or presence at major prescriptor events.
