Capucine Vever in residency in Dakar
10 minWhile she was in residence in Dakar, Senegal, from May to July 2021, the artist Capucine Vever developed Dunking Island, a video research project looking at the phenomenon of the rise in sea level that is affecting Gorée Island. Historically known as one of the points of the triangular trade route, Gorée island is confronted to the concrete effects of the rise in sea level, which is invisible to the naked eye. Dunking Island looks at subsea floors like landscapes, although they are generally approached as sources to be exploited, and passages.
