Nuit Blanche in Kyoto 2022 - Villa Kujoyama honoured for its 30th anniversary
10 minEvery year, Kyoto stages the Nuit Blanche, in tandem with the event organised in Paris, its twin city. For this 12th edition on October 1, 2022, Villa Kujoyama, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary, was given pride of place in the programme, with the presentation of multidisciplinary projects by its former and current prize-winners in situ, but also beyond its walls, in various partner institutions. For this Nuit Blanche, Céline Wright (2021 resident, arts and crafts) designed giant cocoons made of washi paper with organic shapes that become protective shelters, installed at the Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art. In her studio, she offered visitors the opportunity to discover the making-of this installation.

Ki-Time is a project to design and build wooden structures in Kyoto as part of a student mobility programme between France and Japan. The pandemic initially forced the project participants to work together online; this year finally saw the realisation of their research, presented by Yosuke Komiyama, professor at the Graduate School of Engineering at Kyoto University.

Bruno Botella's "Monnaie de singe" exhibition, curated by Karin Schlageter (2021 resident, art criticism) at the Jasmin store in Gion. This exhibition is the second chapter of her research project entitled "文車妖妃 ・La sorcière des Fuguruma", focusing on the legacies of the vernacular and traditional arts in contemporary creation.
