Born on 15 October 1983 in Boulogne-Billancourt, Chloé Mazlo is a visual artist, director, screenwriter and actress. Born into a family of jewellers from Lebanon, she studied graphic design at the École Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Strasbourg between 2002 and 2007. At the end of her studies, she turned to directing animated films and produced her first shorts. Her graduation film, L'Amour m'anime, was selected at around twenty festivals and broadcast on Canal+. 

In 2010, Deyrouth, a documentary in which she travels to Lebanon, was presented at 60 festivals and won seven awards including the 1st prize at the 14th Arab Film Festival in San Francisco. Five years later, her short film Les Petits Cailloux won a César award in the "best animated short film" category. That same year, she delivered her adaptation of Boris Vian's short story, Conte de Fées à l'Usage des Moyennes Personnes. In 2020, Sous le Ciel d'Alice, her first feature film, was selected for the 59th Critics' Week at the Cannes Film Festival. 

Chloé Mazlo frequently stages her own experiences and the emotions associated with them in her work. While she evokes difficult love affairs in L'Amour m'anime, in 2007, she has chosen to pay tribute to her parents' country, Lebanon, in her other projects. She has used a pixilation technique since her earliest films, which animates people by photographing them frame by frame, inventing a singular style in the process, which gives pride of place to feelings, emotions and self-mockery. 

Inspired by artists such as Jonas Mekas, Pierre Etaix and Jean Cocteau, Chloé Mazlo seeks to create movement and to be perpetually inventive in her cinematic expression. In Sous le Ciel d'Alice, her first feature film, she combines live action and animation using her family and Lebanese archives to retrace her grandmother's life story. Through this medium, the director demonstrates the multiculturalism of this country, but also the experience of disenchantment in the face of dashed hopes. 

Through the creativity of her cinema and the power of her images, Chloé Mazlo shows the extent of her multicultural identity. earning international recognition in the process. Her short film Deyrouth, winner of seven awards and numerous festival presentations, has opened the doors to the whole world. Her literary adaptation of Boris Vian's Conte de Fées à l'Usage de Moyennes Personnes won the Audience Award at the 13th FIKE International Short Film Festival in Portugal in 2015. In 2019, Asmahan la Diva also received the Jury and Audience Award at the 8th Franco-Arab Film Festival in Noisy-le-Sec. 

With her first feature film, Sous le Ciel d'Alice, Chloé Mazlo was honoured at the Cannes Film Festival with a selection at the Semaine de la Critique before receiving the Grand Prix for French-language films at the Tübingen International Film Festival in 2021. After several writing residencies, notably at the Cité Internationale de la Bande Dessinée et de l'image d'Angoulême, she was awarded a prize by the Writers' Commission of the Cité internationale des Arts.
