The Publication Assistance Program celebrates its 35th anniversary alongside foreign publishers
Published on 9 July 2025
Alongside the local publication support programs run by Book Offices abroad, the publication support program, centered on the transfer of rights, has been a pillar of the policy of exporting French-language books abroad, since its creation in 1990. Supported by the Institut français, the scheme is a vehicle for the programming of French Institutes around the world and their local partners, making it possible for a non-French-speaking public to access contemporary French-language creation and thought.
This program is aimed at foreign publishing houses wishing to include in their catalog, either in translated or original versions, texts by French-speaking authors originally published in France by a publisher.
On the occasion of the program's 35th anniversary, the Institut français, with the support of the French cultural network abroad, gave a voice to publishers from South Korea, China, Turkey, Italy, Poland, Argentina and Mexico. All have benefited from this program, which has enabled them to enrich their catalogs with works translated from French.
