FOCUS Visual arts 2025: an international springboard for the French scene

From October 20 to 24, during the week of the Art Basel Paris modern and contemporary art fair, the Institut français welcomed an international delegation of art world professionals. 16 professionals discovered the vitality of the French art scenes, with the aim of opening up future international opportunities for French artists and scenes.

FOCUS: a program to encourage the international distribution of French creative work

As part of its mission to support French creators and cultural and creative industries in their international development, the Institut français relies in particular on its FOCUS programs and the organization of professional meetings.

They are designed to help foreign professionals identify the sectors of French cultural creation and encourage their distribution worldwide. Every year, nearly 250 international guests, identified by the Institut français and the French cultural network abroad, benefit from the FOCUS programs, which promote the French arts scene to them and encourage lasting collaborations.

FOCUS and professional meetings

The Institut français aims to facilitate meetings and connections between French and international cultural players, whether artists, creators, intellectuals, entrepreneurs or institutions.

Discovering the French scene

This year, 16 professionals (directors of institutions, curators) invited at the suggestion of the French cultural network abroad and from 13 different countries, from South Africa to Singapore, took part in the unique itinerary organized as part of the FOCUS Visual Arts 2025.

FOCUS guest list

The program for the 2025 edition offered:

  • Visits to artists' studios, galleries, museums and art centers;
  • Visits to the first edition of the festival Art Émergence, dedicated to young creation;
  • Participation in art fairs: Paris Internationale, AKAA, Asia Now, Art Basel Paris;
  • Privileged meetings with French and international professionals;
  • Discovering contemporary art prizes, including the prestigious Prix Marcel Duchamp.
