Meetings with the french cultural network

Through a combination of sector-specific seminars, regional training courses and online features, the Institut français aims to provide better support for network agents and structure a constructive dialogue with its international partners.

In addition to the Espace Réseau, platforms and newsletters that maintain a constant link, physical and online meetings also punctuate the relationship between the Institut français and the French cultural network abroad.

Trainings, regional seminars, sector meetings, expert missions, and above all the Ateliers de l'Institut français (AIF): these highlights strengthen the ties between the Institut français and the network. They enable us to share practices, innovations and avenues for development in a spirit of continuous improvement.

AIF: a strategic moment

Organized every year in Paris, the Ateliers de l'Institut français are an essential meeting place for cultural network professionals. They bring together several hundred participants from embassies, central administration, cultural operators and international partners.

The AIF is a unique forum for reflection, exchange and consultation. Conferences, collaborative workshops, presentations and networking times enable us to share major orientations, promote initiatives in the field and identify common priorities.

They play a structuring role for the network and provide a sounding board for changes in the cultural sector worldwide.

After a break in 2024 due to the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Ateliers de l'Institut français (AIF) 2025 will be held on July 17 and 18, following on from the Journées du réseau (JDR) organized by the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs.

Seminars, training and other schemes

Through a combination of sector-specific seminars, regional training courses and online schemes, the Institute aims to provide better support for network agents and structure a constructive dialogue with its international partners.

While maintaining the sector-specific seminars reserved for network agents in France or abroad, each of which brings together around forty agents (Book seminar, in Chambéry, in conjunction with the First Novel Festival, French Language in Paris in April, Audiovisual in Bogota in October), in 2025 the Institut français is proposing thematic regional seminars that enable priority themes highlighted during previous training courses to be explored in greater depth locally.

In March 2025, Yaoundé hosted the first regional French Language seminar on the theme of language training for French teachers. In an unprecedented format, it brought together for the first time some fifty agents and local education managers from 23 countries in the Africa zone.

In the same vein, in 2025, the Institut français is offering, in co-construction with the posts, several thematic regional training courses that echo locally those held in France in 2024: training on third places in Malta in June (Mediterranean zone) or in Bogota in October (Americas zone), or in Kuala Lumpur (Asia zone) and Leipzig (Europe), training on media libraries in Tunis in October (North Africa zone) or several regional training courses on Feminist Diplomacy.

In France, three thematic training courses are held and open to all network members: Musique actuelle in May, alongside Nuits sonores in Lyon, Renouveler le débat d'idées in September in Paris and Marseille, alongside Allez Savoir, and finally Comprendre les codes des adolescents pour renouveler nos dispositifs.

Finally, online training courses and the Plan d'appui aux formations call for projects round out the Institut français's offering.
