A short trip tells the story of Mira and Klodi, a young Albanian couple who arrive in Marseille with a crucial mission: to find Mira a French husband in exchange for money so that she can obtain French nationality. They must learn to let go of each other. As they confront the urgency of their task, they must also face up to the need to separate.
A graduate of the Tirana Arts Academy, Erenik Beqiri took part in the Sarajevo Talent Campus as a scriptwriter, where he developed the short film Reverse, produced a year later for Sarajevo City of Film. His film won first prize at the Drama International Short Film Festival and the Cinematography Award at the Thessaloniki International Short Film Festival. In 2013, he wrote and directed the short film Alphonso, which screened at the Vancouver International Film Festival and the Brussels ISFF. His next short, Bon Appétit, was nominated for the Méliès d'Argent at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival, and was selected for Haapsalu and Dokufest, among others.
His previous short film, The Van, was the first Albanian film to be included in the official competition at the Cannes Film Festival, as well as at a number of other festivals, including the Melbourne International Film Festival and the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival. It was also one of the ten films shortlisted for the 2021 Oscar for Live Action Short Film.
His project After Dark, which he is working on during his residency in Paris, was the first Albanian project to be selected for the Cinéfondation residency at the Cannes Film Festival.
