Review of the first residency of The Digital Factory of Multilingualism
From June 24 to 29, 2024, the International City of the French Language hosted the first residency of "The Digital Factory of Multilingualism," in partnership with the Institut Français and the Institut Français of Tunisia. On this occasion, the company Digital Cultural eXperience (DCX), winner of the Tunisian Factory Yallab', presented its solution "Les Bâtisseurs VR," a cooperative virtual reality game aimed at encouraging production in the French language through a reconstructed universe of a 2nd-century BC Carthage palace.

During this residency, various interactive workshops were organized, allowing the diverse audiences of the International City of the French Language to discover and test "Les Bâtisseurs VR," including:
- Students from Puiseux-en-Ret Primary School: The young participants explored the palace of Carthage, interacting with historical characters while engaging in fun activities in French.
- Non-native adults from the Soisson Social Center: These adults benefited from total immersion in the Carthage universe, improving their French language skills through engaging game scenarios.
- Residents of the Grand Bousquet EPHAD in Villers-Cotterêts: This experience offered the residents a unique opportunity to rediscover the history and heritage of Carthage while practicing French.
Participants highlighted the immersive and educational aspects of "Les Bâtisseurs VR," and teachers/animators particularly appreciated the game's ability to combine French language learning with cultural discovery. These valuable feedbacks will contribute to adapting this innovative solution to meet the needs of different French-speaking audiences, including a specific version dedicated to French historical figures.
The residency of DCX at the International City of the French Language marked an important milestone in the program "The Digital Factory of Multilingualism," the support system for linguistic innovation within the French cultural network abroad.
