Digital creation
Since 2017, all over the world, the Institut français and the French cultural network abroad have been organizing Digital November, the international celebration of digital cultures.
Digital November provides an opportunity to question the place of digital technology in our societies, to provide training in new uses and to discover the richness and diversity of digital creation, from virtual reality to video games, from digital art to new forms of digital and online storytelling, from immersive theater to interactive music, from educational digital technology to entrepreneurship etc.
.
Since its creation, this event has grown each year, with programming offered in over 70 countries and 130 cities since 2023. This strong mobilization testifies to the commitment of the French Institute and the French cultural network abroad to encourage access to new technologies for all, to promote the diversity of French digital creation in all its components (immersive experiences, video games and esports, digital arts, web creation, audiovisual performances, augmented live performance, podcasts, innovative books etc.) and to build lasting partnerships with international professionals.
In a context where digital technology is profoundly shaping our societies, it is essential to rethink our relationship with technologies, creation and the sovereignty of digital infrastructures.
By bringing together creators, professional structures and the public, Digital November explores new uses and asserts itself as a space for exchange and experimentation, encouraging the emergence of original and sustainable solutions.
It thus offers an opportunity to initiate and showcase innovative projects, to renew the programming offer with new creative formats, and to report on the digital transformation of the network's establishments.
Each year, the Institut français launches a call for projects aimed at establishments in the cultural network in order to support them financially in the implementation of their Digital November programming. Non-subsidized establishments can also apply to join the scheme and benefit from the event's dedicated communications.
The Institut français also provides cultural network establishments with several resources to help them design and implement their Digital November programming. These are developed in close coordination with IFdigital, the showcase of French digital creation from the Institut français designed to inspire the cultural network and its partners in their digital programming.
Lʼespace réseau provides members of the French cultural network abroad with personalized tools and offers.
