PAIR - Program For Artists In Residency

PAIR is a new program designed to encourage French host structures located in the Metropolitan France Area and French Overseas Territories to welcome foreign artists in residency.

With PAIR, the Institut français is making a commitment to residency structures in mainland France and the French overseas territories to support their international development, by enabling them to host foreign artists.

In order to apply, the residency host structure, in a duo with the artist, shall submit a project. Together they propose a research and creation project that requires the presence of the artist in France, for a period of one to three months, between October 2024 and December 2025.

The winning host structures will receive a subsidy calculated based on the duration of the residency as well as the international transport required.

In 2024, a call for projects to welcome artists from the African continent in residency

For its launch, PAIR will support the hosting of artists and creators from the African continent, with a willingness to strengthen the ties between French and African artistic communities in a large number of disciplines, including, among others, the visual arts, performing arts, literature, cinema, etc.

Residency projects must take place between October 2024 and December 2025.
